Overview : Mission and Goals
TerEDyn is a innovative, low risk, science-focused mission directly aligned with NASA’s Earth Venture mission goals. TerEDyn’s global 8-day multispectral coverage of all land areas at 30 m combines the best attributes of MODIS (frequent, global coverage) and Landsat (30 m resolution) to accomplish science goals that cannot be achieved with the MODIS or Landsat data, even when combined in analyses.
TereDyn is science driven, acquiring the data needed to answer the question “How are terrestrial ecosystems changing as affected by human activities and natural events?” The mission addresses pressing Earth Science issues in NASA’s Carbon Cycle and Ecosystems focus area and, has the potential to make significant contributions to science goals in Water and Energy Cycle and Climate Variability and Change focus areas. TerEDyn products may also contribute to humanitarian, strategic and commercial needs.

Science Objectives and Relations to NASA Goals:
TerEDyn will:- Quantify Terrestrial productivity at 30 m Resolution
- Assess Global Allocation of Photosynthesis Products (forest, agriculture, biodiversity, carbon stocks)
- Refine Current Climate Data Record Definitions for Ecosystems
- Quantify and predict changes in global land cover, biological productivity, ecosystems, and the carbon cycle.
The Data resulting from this mission will be used to directly address a key NASA goal as outlined in the 2010 SMD Science Plan Strategy and will:
